Daylight

I normally leave work around 6pm and for the first time in a long time there was daylight as I was leaving. The skyline had an orange tint to it rather than blackness. Call me crazy, but it was a great feeling to be driving home in the evening with daylight still lingering in the sky.

The heart who loves doth shine upon the earth
With radiance and gleaming as to show
All thee who would to gaze upon its worth
Endow thy selves with bits of yonder glow.

The power of such light doth shadows slay
And cause the moon to hide her silken eyes
For, surely, it shall turn the dark to day
And songbirds, so confused, would take to skies.

The loneliness of dusk giveth way to dawn,
To chance that doth therein give man some hope
That thou shalt someday know the darkness gone
To with thy morning star's new love elope.

And thou hast gazed intently on the light,
That thou might ne'er again need see the night.
